Exeter Health Resources Submits Community Benefits Report for Fiscal Year 2006: More Than $18 Million in Services and Programs
Exeter – Exeter Health Resources has released its Community Benefits Report for Fiscal Year 2006 which demonstrates that $18.9 million was provided in community benefits programs and services over the past year, $5.6 million of that going to charity care for uninsured and underinsured individuals. Highlighted below are examples of Exeter Health Resources' community benefit activities throughout the last fiscal year.
Exeter made revisions and additions to its financial assistance program in FY 2006 to provide expanded coverage for uninsured and underinsured patients. The Hospital now provides a 20% discount at 380% of the federal poverty level. Also in FY 2006, the Hospital’s charity care policy expanded to offer a provision for catastrophic relief. This provides uninsured patients with financial assistance for incurred hospital bills that are disproportionate to their total personal income.
A $600,000 donation to the endowment campaign of Seacoast Hospice has helped that organization construct a Hospice House in Dover for terminally ill patients who cannot remain at home. The endowment is being made in $200,000 increments between 2005 and 2007. Annual endowments to SeaCare Health Services and Lamprey Health Care in the amount of $275,000 and $350,000, respectively, will help those organizations continue to provide health care services to un- and underinsured residents in the community.
Mobile health care services continued in FY 2006, providing both medical and dental services to un- and underinsured children and adults in the Seacoast area.
As part of its mission to improve the health of the community, Exeter Health Resources periodically conducts Community Needs Assessments, soliciting feedback from members of the community regarding what services and programs are most needed. The next Needs Assessment will take place in 2008.
